Mediation is an extension of the negotiation process in which a neutral and impartial third-party (the mediator) facilitates communication between parties which ultimately enables them to reach a mutually acceptable agreement.

Individual Mediation

Mediation is a voluntary process available to individuals having a disagreement or conflict. A neutral third-party mediator helps identify issues, uncover options and alternatives taht may resolve the disagreements on tems acceptable to both parties. Mediators are trained to facilitate open communication and remain objective and impartial while guiding individuals through a disagreement in a non-advesarial manner.

Divorce Mediation

Mediation is frequently used for divorce settlements because

  • it is typically much less expensive than a traditional court trial
  • you and your spouse can decide what is fair rather than "the court"
  • legal representation for both parties is perfectly acceptable if desired
  • both parties control the process
  • there are opportunities in the participative process that open communication and can potentially help avoid future conflicts

Parent/Teen Mediation

Mediation is frequently used in disputes involving Families and teens because it:

  • provides a structured process offering a safe environment for communication that promotes healthy growth and behavioral change within the family
  • helps the family improve communication which helps reduce future conflict
  • helps strengthen and preserve family relationships

Home Owner Association Mediation

Mediation is frequently used in disputes involving Home Owners Associations because:

  • it is typically a less costly and faster alternative to resolving your dispute
  • the mediation process can help preserve relationships
  • Some HOA contracts may require mediation prior to arbitration and litigation
  • it is completely confidential. There are no public records of the discussions that take place during a mediation process. If the issue does happen to go to court, the mediator cannot disclose mediation communications unless otherwise required or permitted by law or the parties involved agree to disclosure
